As reported by Timothy Brannan over at The Other Side, the classic adventure the Tomb of Horrors is now available at RPGNow.

Now a whole new generation of players can experience the wailing and gnashing of teeth with each total party kill just their predecessors experienced decades ago with the infamous Tomb.

Is the Tomb of Horrors really that killer of a dungeon?

Yes. Yes it is.

If you ever desire to run this module, think about your group’s tastes first.

As Gary Gygax states near the beginning of the adventure:

“THIS IS A THINKING PERSON’S MODULE, AND IF YOUR GROUP IS A HACK AND SLAY GATHERING, THEY WILL BE UNHAPPY!” [Emphasis not added.]

Players heavily invested in their characters’ history or prefer campaigns with lots of storytelling probably won’t like this module either.

And if you’re a player who suspects his or her character is about to enter the Tomb, please don’t cheat and buy the module beforehand. And please don’t complain if (or when) your character dies.

Part of the fun with the Tomb of Horrors is seeing how far you can get.

And remember to bring a ten-foot pole.
