I’m looking to get a lot of use out of these guys. Even if you’re not into wargames, but purchase miniatures, it behooves you to figure out different ways to use your figures so they don’t sit in storage.
They’re Hundred Years’ War Pavisiers from Front Rank Miniatures. Front Rank makes some of the best-looking historical miniatures out there. I bought these a few years ago along with a bunch of other HYW figures.
Here’s the neat thing: I can use them in multiple games such as Lion Rampant or Dragon Rampant. They can be used as a troop in Kings of War. They’ll also see some action in my tabletop roleplaying games, no doubt.
I didn’t paint their livery to represent any sort of historical faction. Historically French Pavisiers could part of a city garrison, or they would be used to provide some cover for crossbowmen (but they deployed even larger shields for this purpose).
To prevent the spears coming loose, I used a mixture of green stuff and Gel superglue. I know the spears will fall out anyway, but one can hope, right?
The wooden bases have magnets on the bottom.
I really like how they turned out and look forward to deploying them in the near future.
