Once upon a time my players decided to take their characters below the Temple of Virtoaa in the Holy City of Del Reloes to recover a lost artifact and perhaps discover what “God” might look like.

(The temple is/was loosely based on the old temple of Jerusalem).

The campaign had taken an odd turn at that point. I thought they would look for the artifact elsewhere. But there they were, descending into the Holy of Holies, and committing all kinds of sacrilege.

What I could I do? Have them encounter a mysterious mist? A chap with a long white beard? Morgan Freeman from Bruce Almighty?

No.

Revealing what’s known dispels the fears of the unknown. So I had them encounter the Black Monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Have a nice day.

Most of the music on the 2001: A Space Odyssey Soundtrack is intense, as it’s meant to be. It’s supposed to dig into your subconsciousness, along with the movie itself.

I’m not kidding. No, really, I’m not kidding.

So obviously the soundtrack is meant for really special occasions, or if your players’ characters break open a bag of potato chips in space…

The 2001: A Space Odyssey soundtrack is available on Amazon and iTunes.
